Mackenzie Jane Carter

In early 2023, I was the lead designer for a boutique cocktail bar in downtown Bellingham.  I helped a conceptualize the vibe, menu, interior design, service style and core values of what eventually became The Foxhole. The walk-up bar served unusual, original cocktails with an absinthe focus and prioritized making space for the queer community.  The aesthetic goal was victorian-gothic, apothecary-meets-moody euro pub. 

I handled light design, curation, color palettes, textile selections, furniture selection and placement, logo and branding. I also built a large-scale mosaics found around the front of the bar.  Working with a tight budget and sustainability in mind, many items were obtained second-hand.
